Health Care for Aging Dogs: Incontinence and Kidney issues
As our own dogs grow older, we've seen various issues prop up and so we decided to start a blog series with tips from people providing healthy care for their own dogs in their senior years. Depending upon the breed, in most cases, a dog is considered to have entered senior years between the age of 5-10 years.
Moving Countries with your Pet Series : USA to Singapore | Singapore to USA
Our second Moving with your Pets Series covers transporting your dog and cat between The USA and Singapore. While the distance may be long, it's far shorter than the heartbreak your pet will feel if they are left behind, so we hope these real-life experiences will offer reference and guidance to keep your furry family members together.
Moving Countries with your Pet Series: Australia to Singapore | Singapore to Australia
Our third Moving with your Pet Series covers transporting your dog from and to Singapore and Australia. As a nation, Australia has strict laws on import of animals, so advance planning will go a long way, specially if you plan to adopt a dog in Singapore. These moves were the first time for both families to move with their pet dog and they couldn't be happier to have done. We hope these real-life experiences will offer reference and guidance to keep your furry family members together.

Top Dog Trainer Tips - Reward Based Training
Fred Leow, an AVS (Animal & Veterinary Service) accredited dog trainer, was the first dog trainer we met in Singapore through volunteering at OSCAS (Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter), where he shared his knowledge and tips on helping to walk dogs that had never walked outside their kennels on a leash. He introduced us to the benefits of using a harness, long leash and positive reinforcement – valuable knowledge that has made a remarkable difference in helping shelter dogs gain confidence in a safe and comfortable way. Fred is a trainer who has evolved or rather “crossed over” through sheer experience working with, observing and understanding dogs to their core. Here’s some insights he shared with us.
Guide Dogs Singapore needs your Support
Loyal.D began supporting Guide Dogs Singapore (GDS) in 2018 and we were more than happy to partner with them again this year to help raise awareness and funds for their cause. As a service and companion dog a Guide Dog gives a visually impaired human the gift of helping them to integrate into society and live independently.
Puppy training tips from Anita, including DIY Dog Toy
As any new dog parent would know, welcoming a dog to the family for the first time or just working out issues with your current dog can sometimes require a helping hand. We decided to chat with some Dog Trainers to get a few tips from those who have dedicated their time to study dogs and learn more on how to help dogs and people. Anita Cheney of SingaPaw Dog Trainer, is a dog trainer and behaviourist who recently moved to Singapore with her rescue dog, Buster. Here are some highlights of our chat with Anita in the first chat in our series with Dog Trainers, including tips on bringing home a puppy!
Moving Countries with your Pets Series: Singapore to the UK | UK to Singapore
Living in a global and transient place like Singapore, many people are used to a life on the move with changes, adjustments and the inevitable relocation. To help ensure this move is always done with the whole family (including our pets) we have put together a series of real life experiences from people who have moved to and from various countries with their dog(s) or cat(s). Our first move story in the blog series involves moving with your pet between Singapore and the United Kingdom.
Top Tips to Build & Boost your Dog's Immunity
Over the years of caring for our own dogs and volunteering at a local shelter, (OSCAS: Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter), we have come to realise the importance of a holistic approach when it comes to caring for our canine companions. From helping battle an outbreak of Canine influenza (dog flu) and tick infestation at the shelter to trying to maintain the health of our own senior dogs, we've got a little experience to share.
Guide Dogs Singapore give quality of life to the visually impaired
Imagine how long it would take you to walk to your local MRT if you were blind or could not see clearly. And just when you think you have memorised your familiar routes, you find out there is construction work in your neighbourhood, so pavements, roads, buildings have all changed and you cannot navigate from memory anymore! A simple five-minute walk now takes over an hour and is riddled with safety concerns, and of course cyclists, e-scooters, traffic and pedestrians to maneuver through.
