Top 5 tips to celebrate Singapore's National Day with your fur friend
As Singapore gears up to celebrate its 52nd Birthday as one nation, we decided to pull together our Top 5 tips on celebrating with your fur friend in a safe and fun way!
1) Get your Red & White on together!
What's a celebration without some shopping and a bit of dress-up thrown in! To show our proud Singaporean roots, we think our fur friends too should sport a little Red & White with us... while keeping our dog's comfort in mind ... after all, a dog's gotta be a dog!
Pawstyle Tip I: A Foxy Red & White Canvas.D collar. The perfect colours to don, smart looking, comfortable (comes in 1 inch and the wider 1.5 inch widths) and very easy to clean (we welcome the roll-in-the-mud sessions!)
Pawstyle Tip II: Get Bandana.D in an iconic Singaporean batik print or shades of red!
2) A long mid-week morning walk
With 9th of August falling mid-week, it's a perfect excuse to head out early in the morning for a nice, extra long walk and we can bet your pooch will welcome the treat. If you have plans to head off later to watch NDP fireworks with your friends or grab a drink, the extra exercise will reduce that guilty feeling!
The Loyal.D dogs' preferred long walk spots include the East Coast Beach, Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay, East. Where are your favourite long walks?
3) Fancy a picnic with your pooch? Here's the perfect picnic with your pooch check-list:
a. Pack a picnic basket with your chilled beer, some sandwiches and dog treats.
b. Make sure you have a good long walk and play before finding a shaded spot to sit.
c. A wide enough mat so you can share it!
d. Stay hydrated with enough water for you and your fur friend.
e. Don't forget some fun outdoor toys for a spot of play!
f. Rubbish bag, Poo bag, Tote bag!
g. Hand towels and hats
h. And last but not the least, try to find a spot at a distance from the crowds so you and your dog can relax and be at ease. Send us pics of your picnic too!
4) Prepare your pet for fireworks
If where you live is close to fireworks and noisy celebrations, do check out the Dog Blog we had done on this topic last year - the handy tips will help comfort your dog through a stressful time!
5) Get that extra special treat!
Pamper your pooch with some special Lion pup cakes from our preferred local treats place for dogs, The Barkery!
Visit their shop at 326, Joo Chiat or order online and treat your fur friends to their National day special all-natural, mince meat pup cakes. After all, part of celebrating everything Singaporean is to celebrate our love for good food too ... and this also includes treats for our dogs!
Happy Singapore National Day!
